I’ve long had a thing for travel, but I’ve never worn sandals, shades, or a baseball cap, and I’ve never had a photo taken of me from the back with my arms spread wide.
Am I even doing it right?
The urge to travel the world is a curious thing – common, but the motives are often a little vague. They could be a combination of a whole mix of things, i.e. the need for a change, attraction to beautiful places, or, for the more Instagram-conscious, status.
Or just curiosity. The same reason many of us read news articles and books: to know more about this world that we live in. To travel to these places and witness the real thing yourself is to observe all the little details that get cropped out of the polished, sanitised versions of books, TV, and social media. For my own part, regardless of how much I reading I do beforehand to explain the things that I’ll notice there, I always leave with a question rattling around in my head.
So, if the wanderings of a failed librarian from Gwynedd (North-West Wales, if you don’t know), some with enough misfortunes to be almost termed ‘adventures’, resulting in questions and, hopefully, their answers, are appealing to you, then aren’t you lucky?
Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be mildly interesting.
(If you absolutely must know: a travel account once a month, as long as I have one to relate, then I’ll try to answer the question/s about the country/countries soon afterwards. Definitions of “soon” may vary.)
